We put up sidewalk sheds in all five boroughs, file the DOB permit and answer the phone at any hour. We have worked in NYC since 2004.
Find your situation, and send us what the right column asks for.
| Your Situation | Send Us | What Happens Next |
|---|---|---|
| You Need a New Shed | Property address, borough, frontage length (if known), and reason for the work. | We confirm the scope and handle the applicable DOB filing. |
| An Existing Shed's Permit Is Expiring | Permit details and issue date. | We check the renewal timeline and explain the next steps. |
| Falling Debris, an Unsafe Facade, or a DOB Order | (718) 581-4370 | Our line is available 24/7. |
| You Have a Shed Violation | Violation notice and property address. | We explain the filing requirements or site work that may be needed. |
We install sheds in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island. A shed gives pedestrians a covered path under facade work, construction or a damaged building. Nobody may build one without a DOB permit.
We install the shed and file the permit in DOB NOW: Build. Send the address and the reason for the work, and we confirm what the filing needs.
Most facade jobs put scaffolding over the shed, and we build the pair under one scope. See pipe scaffolding for the system that follows a cornice or a setback.
A sidewalk shed is a temporary covered walkway built over a public sidewalk. It shields pedestrians from falling debris while crews work on the building above.
Sidewalk bridge and pedestrian shed name the same structure. The shed protects the street and carries no work. The scaffold above it holds the crew. Each structure has its own design and permit requirements, which we confirm for the project.
NYC requires sidewalk protection in specific situations, including certain facade and demolition work, dangerous building conditions and work that could drop material on pedestrians.
| Situation | Why a Shed Goes Up |
|---|---|
| Construction and Demolition | Work above the sidewalk can cause materials or debris to fall toward pedestrians below. |
| Facade Inspection and Repair (Local Law 11) | An unsafe condition identified during an inspection may require sidewalk protection until repairs are completed. |
| Unsafe Conditions and DOB Orders | A shifted facade element or a Department of Buildings (DOB) order may require protective measures to be installed first. |
The DOB’s scaffold and shed permit page requires a permit before anyone erects any shed, with all filings in DOB NOW: Build. Read the full rules in our guide to NYC sidewalk shed requirements.
The DOB's January 8, 2026 service notice caps sidewalk shed permits at 90 days. The DOB no longer renews them automatically, and each manual renewal costs $130. The notice names February 2, 2026 as the DOB NOW launch date and cites January 26, 2026 for the 90-day maximum, so your permit's issue date matters. The notice puts Local Laws 48 and 51 of 2025 into practice. Permits issued before February 2 expire as they did before.
The rules depend on the work tied to your shed permit. Sheds installed in connection with a permitted new building, enlargement or demolition fall outside the Local Law 48 and 51 requirements. For other sheds, a Registered Design Professional answers work-progress questions in DOB NOW when the permit request goes in and at each renewal. Send us your permit, and we help identify what applies.
Shed permit expiring? Call us before the 90 days run out.
Not sure which one you need? Send us the address and the work planned, and we’ll tell you.
We quote each shed by address, because five things move the price:
Send the address and a few photos, and the quote lists each item on its own line.
Falling debris, an unsafe facade condition or a DOB order cannot wait for business hours. Our line answers around the clock at (718) 581-4370. Response and arrival times depend on location, site conditions and crew availability.
When you call, give us four things:
Unsafe facade or DOB order? Call (718) 581-4370, any hour.
We file shed permits in DOB NOW: Build and work to resolve violations. If the DOB cited an expired permit or a shed condition, send us the notice and the address. We explain the filing or site work that may follow. The DOB alone decides outcomes, so we promise none. For the rules behind a violation, see sidewalk shed permits and DOB rules.
Our newest listed shed went up in Brooklyn in 2026.
Service: Sidewalk shed
Location: East 27th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11229
Year: 2026
A work zone often needs more than a shed. Jersey barriers separate the work area from vehicle traffic. Construction fencing closes the site perimeter and keeps people on the pedestrian route. We install sidewalk sheds, fencing and barriers across all five boroughs.
